Get ready for an unforgettable one day trip to Saona Island!
We will arrange transport for you to and from the cruise port, and you will receive detailed information from us after booking. Transportation is included in the excursion price.
From Bayahibe, we start along the coast of the Cotubanamá National Park and pass El Peñon, an area once inhabited by the Taíno.
Our first stop is the charming fishing village of Mano Juan, which has no cars and only 300 inhabitants. After a cool drink under the palm trees, you can explore the village on a short tour and learn more about the life of the locals. Here you will also visit the sea turtle project that supports the survival of the young animals. However, those who want can also enjoy the beach and will meet the group again after the walking tour.
After the village tour, a freshly prepared lunch awaits you on the beach with local specialties, including roasted chicken, fish, rice and potato dishes, pasta, vegetables, Caribbean fruits, and salads.
After some refreshments, you will continue to Canto de la Playa, the most remote corner of Saona Island. Enjoy the unspoiled nature and the crystal-clear water, where you can go snorkeling or simply enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings.
On our way back, we will explore the mangroves, a protected area in the Cotubanamá National Park. Learn more about the importance of mangroves to our ecosystem and look out for sea turtles in their natural habitat. Since the mangroves are located within the national park and are under nature protection, we are not allowed to drive into them. We will pass by them and stop closer to the outer mangroves.
Our last stop is the enchanting Piscina Natural, a sandbank in the middle of the sea. Snorkel with the large cushion starfish or simply enjoy a drink in the warm, hip-deep water.
Now it's time to head back to Bayahibe, and you will meet us again at our office, where your transportation back to the cruise ship will already be waiting for you.
