From Bar: Tour of Donkey Farm｜Montenegro

Join us for a unique adventure in the heart of Montenegro, in a picturesque corner of Europe, at the Martinići Donkey Farm—a hidden gem located just 20 km from Podgorica! As the first and only donkey farm in the country, it was established with the mission of protecting these noble animals from extinction. This farm not only serves as a sanctuary for donkeys but also as a place where nature, tradition, and humanity come together.

Experience direct interaction with the donkeys by participating in activities such as feeding, brushing, and playing while discovering their friendly nature. Have you ever wondered if they are as stubborn as fairy tales suggest?

Learn about the significance of donkeys in Montenegrin tradition, including their diet, breeding practices, and role in preserving cultural heritage. Visit the Donkey Museum to see how the farm has contributed to protecting this species, which was once essential to rural life. Not long ago, every Montenegrin household relied on a donkey to help with the challenges of village life.

The farm offers a special program for children with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. This program allows them to experience the therapeutic benefits of gentle animals that bring calmness and joy.

At the Donkey Farm, there is no traditional entrance fee. Instead of paying with money, visitors are encouraged to purchase fruits or vegetables to feed the animals. You can also see other farm animals, explore traditional farming tools, and learn about the old ways of village life. Stroll through the pastures and natural surroundings while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views.

This is the only place in Montenegro where visitors can volunteer, assist on the farm, and contribute to preserving this unique species. The farm also hosts special events, such as the Traditional Donkey Ball, which provides a distinctive experience and creates unforgettable memories.

A visit to the farm is ideal for families seeking an authentic and meaningful experience.
