Puerto Jiménez: Sightseeing Tour to Corcovado, La Leona Station｜Costa Rica

Explore Corcovado National Park through the La Leona sector on a guided experience designed for travelers who have their own 4x4 vehicle and want to get to know the park in a more flexible and economical way, without paying for additional transportation.

The experience starts early in Puerto Jiménez, at our Corcovado Wild Tours office. You can easily find us on Google Maps by searching for "Corcovado Wild Tours – Puerto Jiménez". At this point, you'll meet the nature guide assigned to your sightseeing tour, receive the final instructions, and also be given the box lunch that you'll take with you on the hike.

From our office, you'll start the tour in your own vehicle, accompanied by the tour guide. It is required to use a 4x4 vehicle, as the journey to La Leona is along rural roads where this type of vehicle is essential.

The route from Puerto Jiménez to the start of the hike is approximately 25 miles (42 km) and takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. The tour guide will travel with you to show the route and facilitate admission to the park.

After checking in, you will begin your hike through tropical forest, coastal zones, and areas of great biological richness. During the tour, the tour guide will help you spot wildlife such as monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, sloths, peccaries, coatis, reptiles, and many other species that inhabit Corcovado, as well as sharing information about the ecosystem and the park's history.

The experience is conducted in small groups to offer more personalized attention and more time to observe and photograph wildlife. Halfway through the tour, you'll enjoy a box lunch before continuing to explore the area.

At the end of the hike, you will return to the point where you left your vehicle and drive back to Puerto Jiménez. The approximate arrival time is around 3:00 PM, although it may vary slightly depending on the pace of the group and wildlife sightings.

We recommend staying in Puerto Jiménez the night before to facilitate departure. It is essential to have your own 4x4 vehicle. Transportation is not included; the tour guide will travel with you from Puerto Jiménez to La Leona. The tour includes a certified naturalist guide, entry to Corcovado National Park, and a box lunch.
