Day 1: Arrival in Sambava
Fly from Antananarivo to Sambava. Transfer to your hotel and take some time to relax and recover from your journey. Take an optional evening stroll along the town or beach to enjoy the warm SAVA atmosphere. Overnight in Sambava.
Day 2: Trek to Mantella Camp and Humbert Waterfall
Depart Sambava at 6:00 AM, arriving at Manantenina Park reception by 7:00 AM. Drive to the village of Mandena and begin your hike around 7:30 AM. Arrive at Mantella Camp by 11:00–12:00 PM and enjoy lunch at the camp.
Take a short walk to Humbert Waterfall, a stunning cascade surrounded by lush rainforest. Enjoy free time at the camp for rest or swimming in a natural pool. Overnight at Mantella Camp.
Day 3: Mantella Camp to Marojejy Camp
After breakfast, hike for about 1 hour to Marojejy Camp, situated in the heart of the park. Explore the surroundings of Marojejy Camp and enjoy its breathtaking views. After a short break, continue ascending toward Camp 3, encountering the park’s rare wildlife, including the iconic Silky Sifaka lemur. Overnight at Marojejy Camp.
Day 4: Summit of Marojejy National Park
Depart early in the morning for the summit at 2,132 meters above sea level. Trek via Camp 3, surrounded by pristine rainforest and endemic species. Reach the summit after approximately 6 hours. Weather permitting, enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the SAVA region—a spectacular sight over valleys, rivers, and distant mountains.
Descend to Camp 3 for lunch, then continue to Camp 2 for dinner. Overnight at Marojejy Camp.
Day 5: Descent and Return to Sambava
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and free time at Marojejy Camp. After lunch, begin the descent toward Mandena village, arriving around 3:30 PM. Board your vehicle for the return drive to Sambava. Overnight in Sambava.
Day 6: Drive to Antalaha and Coconut Avenue
Drive to Antalaha, known as the world capital of vanilla. Along the road, admire the Coconut Avenue, one of the largest coconut plantations in the world, stretching along the coastline.
Enjoy optional beach relaxation or visit Radar Mountain, offering a panoramic view of Antalaha town. Explore local nightlife, safe and welcoming for tourists. Overnight in Antalaha.
Day 7: Vanilla Plantation and Ma Colline Botanical Garden
Visit a vanilla plantation and processing facility, learning how Madagascar’s famous vanilla is grown, harvested, and cured. Explore Ma Colline Botanical Garden, home to endemic plants and animals like Clerodendrum khamyoe.
In the afternoon, relax on the beach and take a canoe ride along the coast. Visit Ambinagny, a scenic sand strip between the river and sea, perfect for photography and enjoying nature. Overnight in Antalaha.
Day 8: Return to Sambava or Antananarivo
Transfer to Sambava or Antalaha airport, depending on your flight schedule. Fly back to Antananarivo, concluding your unforgettable journey through the SAVA region and Marojejy National Park.
