— What You Can Expect —
You will be picked up from your hotel lobby before sunrise between 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM and travel to Angkor Wat to watch the breathtaking sunrise over the world’s largest religious monument and one of Cambodia’s most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Spend approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes exploring the temple complex, learning about its history, and taking memorable photos before the larger crowds arrive. After sunrise, enjoy breakfast at a local family-run restaurant in Siem Reap. Continue to Preah Dak village to experience local countryside life near the Angkor temple area and taste traditional Cambodian palm cake. Next, visit the famous jungle temple of Ta Prohm, known for its giant tree roots growing through the ancient ruins and its natural atmosphere preserved over the centuries. Continue through the South Gate of Angkor Thom to visit the impressive Bayon and Baphuon temples, famous for their 54 towers and 216 smiling stone faces of Avalokiteshvara. You will also visit the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, once used as royal viewing platforms and ceremonial areas during the Khmer Empire. Throughout the tour, your guide will share stories and historical information about the temples and the Khmer Empire before returning you to your hotel in Siem Reap. Arrival back in the city is expected around 1:00 PM.
