Semi-Gobi/Kharakorum: Overnight trip and nomadic family stay｜Mongolia

Begin your journey with a pickup from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Head to the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes, also known as the Semi-Gobi. We will make stops at road stations along the way for relaxation. Do not hesitate to ask to stop when you find some areas beautiful.

After lunch, continue to the sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai. Take in the breathtaking views of the desert landscape before heading to the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire, Kharkhorin. Visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery, the oldest surviving Buddhist temple in Mongolia. Learn about its history and significance as you explore the complex.

Next, visit the Kharkhorin Museum, a small museum filled with information about the unique history of the area. Discover the rich cultural heritage of the region before heading to the nomadic family where you will spend the night.

The host family will give you authentic Mongolian food, and you are also welcome to help them cook. You will have your own ger (Mongolian yurt) with clean beds and bed sheets. Nomad families have a toilet as an outhouse (like a camping style), so please be mindful of this detail.

On the second day, we will start with breakfast. Then you will have a nice camel ride in the Semi-Gobi. Lastly, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar, taking in the stunning landscapes of Mongolia along the way.
