Product Info

Step off the beaten path and experience Rome like a local on this food tour. Your adventure begins at Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of Rome's most charming squares. As you explore the hidden corners of the neighborhood, you’ll pass through picturesque streets like Vicolo dell'Atleta and Piazza in Piscinula, stopping at traditional eateries to sample some of the city's most beloved street foods. Crispy supplì (fried rice balls), freshly baked pizza, stuffed sandwiches, while soaking in the authentic atmosphere of this lesser-known part of Trastevere.

Next, cross the Tiber River to Isola Tiberina. This small island was dedicated to Aesculapius, the Roman god of medicine, and played a significant role in healing practices.

From there, continue to the Portico di Ottavia, a grand structure built by Emperor Augustus in honor of his mother, Atia. This monumental portico once served as a grand entrance to the Theater of Marcellus, another significant site in the area. Augustus, as Rome's first emperor, commissioned this structure to reinforce his political legacy. Today, the Portico di Ottavia stands as a testament to the Roman emperor’s influence on both architecture and the cultural life of Rome.

In the nearby Jewish Ghetto, you’ll discover how centuries of Jewish-Roman history have shaped the neighborhood, blending traditions and flavors unique to the area. This area is home to classic Roman-Jewish dishes, including the iconic Carciofi alla Giudia (fried artichokes), an essential part of the Ghetto’s culinary heritage. As you explore the winding streets, your guide will highlight key landmarks that show the deep historical connection between Jewish culture and Roman traditions.

Then, make your way to Campo de' Fiori, where the famous market bursts with color, aromas, and fresh ingredients. In the morning, you'll have a chance to explore the market, sampling some of the finest produce, cheeses, meats, and spices that shape Roman cuisine.

We can surely tailor our experience for vegetarian.

This tour is more than just a food adventure; it’s an immersive journey through the heart of Rome's history, culture, and cuisine. With an expert local guide, you’ll gain insights into the past while savoring the flavors that have shaped the Eternal City. Whether you're a food lover, history buff, or both, this tour will leave you with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for Rome’s vibrant culinary heritage.
