There are two main ways for Taiwanese to travel to Xiamen: The first is to take a direct flight from a major Taiwanese airport to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, which is the fastest option. The second is to choose the 'Mini-Three Links' (小三通), which involves first flying from Taiwan to Kinmen or Matsu, and then taking a ferry from Kinmen or Matsu's port to Xiamen's Wutong Port or Quanzhou Shijing Port. While the Mini-Three Links takes longer, it's generally more affordable and offers the fun of experiencing different modes of transport.
Ferry services to Xiamen via the Mini-Three Links are currently operating normally, departing primarily from ports in Kinmen or Matsu and heading to Xiamen's Wutong Port or Quanzhou Shijing Port. Sailing schedules are adjusted based on the season and demand. It is highly recommended that you check the latest ferry times and booking availability with the relevant ferry companies or through reliable travel platforms before your departure to ensure a smooth journey.
The cost of a ferry from Taiwan to Xiamen can vary depending on your departure location (Kinmen or Matsu), cabin class, booking time, and whether other services are included. Since ticket prices fluctuate, it is recommended to check current prices directly with the ferry company or through travel platforms. You can check and book ferry tickets on the KKday platform, which allows you to easily compare different sailings and ticket types, saving you the hassle of searching individually and making your travel arrangements effortless.
The sailing experience during a one-day Xiamen tour is typically arranged in the coastal areas of Xiamen, allowing you to enjoy the thrill of the waves under professional guidance. The fun shore clamming experience will take you to the intertidal zones around Xiamen, such as the beaches of Huangcuo or near specific fishing villages. The guide will lead you to the most suitable locations for clamming, where you can experience the daily life of local fishermen catching seafood and searching for ocean treasures. The exact location will be adjusted based on the day's tide conditions and itinerary arrangements, and hotel pick-up and drop-off services within Xiamen Island are provided, so you don't have to worry about transportation.
Yes, during the sailing activity on a one-day Xiamen tour, you do have the opportunity to encounter dolphins. The waters off Xiamen are a habitat for dolphins, and especially when the weather is good, the sea conditions are stable, and you're lucky, these marine mammals often leap out of the water to interact with visitors. However, since dolphins are wild animals, whether you can see them still depends on the natural environment and serendipity of the day, but it is certainly a highlight of the sea excursion.
Shapowei is a vibrant and historically rich neighborhood in Xiamen, offering unique charm to explore during your one-day tour. Here you'll find the 'Art West District,' which is home to many creative shops, independent cafes, and art galleries, making it a popular spot for photos. You can also stroll along the 'Fishery Harbor,' experiencing the old Xiamen fishing port's ambiance and admiring the blend of traditional fishing boats and modern architecture, a unique fusion of old and new.
For the shore clamming experience in Xiamen, it is recommended to wear comfortable, dirt-resistant, and easy-to-move-in clothing. Prepare non-slip, water-resistant shoes or sandals for walking on the muddy shore. Additionally, during summer, be sure to bring sun protection (such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen) and carry drinking water to stay hydrated. You may also want to bring a change of clothes to change into after the experience for greater comfort and enjoyment throughout the clamming process.
The primary document for Taiwanese citizens traveling to Xiamen is the 'Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents' (commonly known as the 'Tai Bao Zheng' or T.P. Card), ensuring it is within its validity period. You will also need to carry a valid passport for verification. Upon arrival in Xiamen, you will need to fill out an arrival card and follow customs instructions to complete the entry procedures. It is advisable to double-check the validity of all your documents and familiarize yourself with the latest entry regulations before your departure to ensure a smooth trip.
