On Aoshima Island, participants will prepare Aji Fry in a kitchen located right in front of a beautiful beach. This unique setting allows you to cook alongside local island mothers and then enjoy your freshly made Aji Fry lunch while taking in the scenic views of the beach.
During the boat fishing experience near Aoshima Island, while Aji is the primary target, participants might also catch larger fish such as red sea bream (madai) or mackerel (saba). If fish other than Aji are caught, the island mothers can help prepare them into various dishes, including sashimi, offering a diverse culinary experience.
Aji (horse mackerel) is a nutritious fish, rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health. While Aji Fry is a delicious dish, it is typically deep-fried. The plan includes a taxi service for transportation from Matsuura City Hotel or Amista Hotel to the activity locations. Travelers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to reach these designated hotels in Matsuura City prior to the start of the activities. It is recommended to research local public transport options or taxi services from major transportation hubs.
The Aji fishing experience takes place on a boat while heading to Aoshima Island. All necessary fishing tools are provided for participants, allowing for a hands-on opportunity to catch fresh Aji directly from the sea. The local team will provide guidance throughout the fishing activity.
In the afternoon, participants will return to Matsuura City for a refreshing strawberry picking experience. You can expect to harvest fresh, local strawberries directly from the farm, enjoying their natural sweetness. This activity offers a pleasant change of pace and a delightful way to engage with local agriculture.
On Aoshima Island, participants will use a dedicated cooking facility situated right by a beautiful beach. You will receive assistance from experienced 'island mothers' who will guide you through the process of preparing the Aji Fry. All necessary cooking tools and ingredients (other than the freshly caught fish) are included.
