- Itinerary Highlights -

The Qingshui Geothermal Area is located in the Qingshui Valley, south of Qingshui Village in Datong Township. The area lies at the junction of plains and foothills, nestled in the valley. The distant green mountains and the curling white smoke from the geothermal sources create a captivating rural landscape. The geothermal springs, originating from underground, are abundant and alkaline, with temperatures reaching 95°C. The water is pale yellow with a slight sulfur odor and bubbling. This area was originally the geothermal plaza of the former CPC station. In 1976, CPC drilled a well and discovered abundant geothermal heat near the hot springs, which held great industrial value. Research and development efforts began, culminating in the successful completion of Taiwan's first geothermal power plant in 1981, marking a new milestone in geothermal development. To ensure safety and security, the geothermal cooking and footbath facilities are now used in the cooking and footbath pools. The pools utilize hot water from the No. 19 geothermal well (150°C, wellhead pressure 5 kg/cm²), ensuring efficient resource utilization. The surrounding hillsides to the north and west are forested with safflower and Taiwan nanmu trees, and you can occasionally spot visiting Taiwan macaques.
