We will pick you up directly from your place of accommodation to begin our 2-hour journey into the Andes Mountains. We will arrive at the village of San José de Maipo, known as the Maipo Canyon (Cajón del Maipo) due to its deep valley surrounded by mountains, a place full of history and nature. We will continue on to our first stop to enjoy a typical local breakfast on the banks of the Maipo River. Later, we will pass through the village of San Gabriel, the last one before starting the ascent by vehicle to the Yeso Reservoir, the main source of drinking water for the city of Santiago. We will stop at the Mirador de los Vientos, a perfect place to admire the majestic mountain range and take photographs. We may be able to see the flight of condors, the largest bird in the mountain range. Later, we'll pass through the El Arriero sector, where we can usually see llamas, one of the most characteristic animals of the Chilean mountain range.
Then we'll continue until we reach Las Cascaras, where the van will park and an easy hike will begin to the Embalse del Yeso, a turquoise lagoon surrounded by towering Andean mountains. Here you will have time to walk, take photos, and enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes in the region. You can also appreciate the tranquility of the place and the pure mountain air, and learn about some of the flora and fauna that are characteristic of the mountain range. We can also see the El Morado glacier and the impressive San José volcano, which is an active volcano in the region.
On the way back, we'll stop at the famous Chocolate House, a very picturesque place inspired by fantasy tales, ideal for taking photographs. Here you'll also have time to buy an ice cream or enjoy a delicious hot chocolate, depending on the season.
To round off this experience, we'll have a picnic in a typical spot in Cajón del Maipo, surrounded by nature, where you can relax and enjoy a glass of Chilean wine, thus ending an unforgettable day in the majestic Andes Mountains.
