Longyearbyen: Polar Night Snowmobile Adventure to Pingo｜Svalbard and Jan Mayen

Ride straight into the heart of the Polar Night on a snowmobile expedition across the frozen Arctic wilderness.
We pick you up from your accommodation where you’ll get fully equipped with thermal gear and a clear safety briefing before heading out into the dark.
Then the real experience begins.

We cross the vast, silent valley of Adventdalen, where the landscape disappears into darkness and everything is reduced to snow, sky, and the sound of your engine. With a bit of luck, we might spot Svalbard reindeer moving through the night.

Our destination is the Pingo a rare ice-cored hill formed deep within the permafrost, hidden far from town. Here we stop to warm up with hot drinks and something sweet while your guide explains this unusual Arctic formation.

You can either drive your own snowmobile or if you book with more than 1 person, share one (it is possible to swap along the way).

On clear nights, look up: this is one of the few places on Earth where you might even catch the “daytime” Northern Lights, a rare Arctic phenomenon.

This tour will take approximately 3.5 hrs and is about 40-50 km on snowmobile

What to bring: Warm clothes under your snowmobile suit (preferably several layers of wool), a pair of thin gloves or mittens to wear under your driving mittens.

Big jackets or multiple jackets are not recommended under the snowmobile suit.

Remember to bring a driving license for a car, motorcycle or snowmobile valid for Svalbard! Important to know: We always assess weather and (snow/ice) conditions.

If, for safety reasons, we need to adjust the planned route, we reserve the right to do so. Your safety is our highest priority. In such cases, no refunds will be given.
You are not allowed to drive without being able to present a valid driver's license which is valid in Svalbard – your tour will not be refunded if you fail to do so. If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you will not be allowed to join and will not receive any refund.

Pickup: at your accommodation around the time stated on your confirmation. Just wait if we are not there on time. We pick up everyone at the same time, so we could be some minutes later.

We reserve the right to refuse you to join our activity, if you do not arrive properly prepared in terms of clothing when we pick you up.

We recommend you have a valid travel insurance.
