It was established in 1348 by the Czech king and Roman emperor Charles IV as a place to store the royal treasures, collections of holy relics and the crown jewels.

In the Chapel of the Holy Cross, you will be able to contemplate the pictures of Master Theodoric, as well as see the largest portrait gallery of Czech rulers in the country. You will view exhibited replicas of the crown of the Holy Roman Emperors, as well as St. Wenceslas's crown.
