Kayak in Rusheen Bay, Salthill, one of Galway’s most popular outdoor spots on the Wild Atlantic Way. You’ll use open-top RTM kayaks, a stable setup that makes learning and paddling along the coast feel straightforward and safe from the start.

Begin by meeting your instructor at Rusheen Bay for check-in and a short safety briefing. Get introduced to your kayak and paddle, then learn the essentials step by step: how to sit and balance, paddle forward and backward, steer, and stop smoothly. Once you’re comfortable, launch into the calm, shallow inlet and practice techniques with coaching as you go.

Depending on the option you choose, continue with a guided paddle group, a private group, or explore the bay by yourself after receiving a land demonstration from an instructor. Along the way, take in the coastal scenery around Salthill and enjoy the quiet rhythm of moving over the water while you build confidence with every stroke. Your session ends back at Rusheen Bay, where you’ll return your equipment and finish in a handy location to keep exploring Galway.
