Experience the world-famous Cullinan Diamond Mine with an unforgettable guided tour filled with history, adventure, and the sparkle of real diamonds. Your journey begins with a choice between a Motorized Tour or a Walking Tour inside the working mine area. The Motorized Tour is perfect for guests who would like to see more of the mine comfortably while exploring deeper sections of the property and learning about the daily mining operations. This option requires a minimum of 6 people. If you cancel the motorized tour because the 6-person minimum is not met, travelers receive a full refund for the affected booking. Guests who enjoy a more personal and up-close experience can choose the Walking Tour, where you will walk through selected areas of the mine and experience the atmosphere, machinery, and mining environment at eye level. Walking Tours are available from a minimum of 1 person.
During the tour, your guide will take you through the fascinating History and Diamond Room where you will discover the incredible story of the famous Cullinan Diamond, the largest gem-quality diamond ever discovered at an astonishing 3,106 carats. Guests will view replicas of some of the world’s most famous diamonds found at Cullinan and hear exciting stories about diamond discoveries through the years, including the recent recovery of the rare blue diamond in 2026. The exhibition also showcases original mining equipment, historical photographs, and stories about the old mine buildings that played an important role in the town’s rich mining heritage.
The experience continues with a visit to the historic McHardy House Museum, the very first house built in Cullinan for the mine manager. Step back in time as you walk through beautifully preserved rooms filled with original furniture and décor, giving visitors a glimpse into the lifestyle of the early mining era.
To end your experience, guests will visit the Diamond and Curio Shop where you can admire real diamonds, unique jewellery, and authentic African curios. Visitors also have the opportunity to purchase diamonds and memorable souvenirs to take a piece of Cullinan home with them. This tour offers the perfect combination of history, culture, adventure, and the timeless beauty of diamonds.
