Product Info

The entire trip takes place in Mie Prefecture, with a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Ise to Nagashima, perfect for travelers who want to see the shrine, coastal landmarks, and go shopping in one go.

Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks): Located on the coast of Futamiura in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, these are two rocks standing in the sea. The larger one is called the male rock, and the smaller one is the female rock. They are connected by a thick shimenawa rope, hence the name 'Meoto Iwa' (Wedded Rocks). It has a close connection to Ise Jingu. Legend says the male rock acts as a torii gate for Ise Jingu, and the female rock is an island dedicated to the Hinode Shrine. Watching the sun rise between the two rocks in the early morning is the most famous view in Futamiura. The shimenawa rope is replaced several times a year, and the paper streamers (shide) on the rope are very striking, making them a great photo opportunity. The rocks are right by the shore and can be reached on foot without taking a boat. Next to them is the Futami Okitama Shrine, where many people pay a quick visit before heading to the beach to see the rocks. The view is most complete when the weather is good and the tide is right; at high tide, the rocks appear closer to the water. You don't need to stay too long; it is perfect for taking photos, looking at the sea, and taking a short break.

Okage Yokocho, located in front of the Ise Jingu Naiku, is a shopping street reconstructed in the style of the Edo to Meiji periods. It is near the Uji Bridge, and most visitors walk through it after visiting the shrine. The street features low wooden shops, stone-paved paths, and warm lanterns, selling Akafuku mochi, Ise Udon, seafood, handmade crafts, and local souvenirs. You can eat while walking or sit down for a bowl of udon or a seafood rice bowl. The atmosphere is nostalgic rather than a modern shopping mall, making it perfect for photos and resting. It is not very large, and a leisurely stroll takes about 40 minutes to an hour.

Ise Jingu: Located in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, it is the highest-ranking and most revered shrine in Japan, dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami. Sightseeing usually focuses on the Naiku (Inner Shrine). Enter through the Uji Bridge, walk along the gravel path into the forest, and pray in front of the main hall. The main hall is not open to the public; you can only pay your respects from outside the fence. The Geku (Outer Shrine) is dedicated to Toyouke Omikami, the deity of food, clothing, and shelter, and is about a 15-minute drive from the Naiku. If time permits, you can visit both. Please remain quiet within the shrine grounds and bow slightly when passing through the torii gates; there is no need to worry about complex etiquette.
