Palmar Sur: Finca 6 Stone Spheres Archaeological Tour｜Costa Rica

Discover one of Costa Rica’s most important archaeological sites during a guided visit to Finca 6 in Palmar Sur.

Finca 6 is part of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Precolumbian Chiefdom Settlements with Stone Spheres of the Diquís.” During this approximately 2-hour experience, explore the museum and archaeological area with a certified guide.

Learn about the pre-Columbian societies of the Diquís Delta, how the famous stone spheres were produced and transported, and how they were incorporated into important settlements. Your guide will explain their relationship to residential mounds, public spaces, settlement organization, and the surrounding landscape.

Continue outside to observe stone spheres and surviving alignments in their archaeological setting. You will also learn about the later banana plantation era, when agricultural development exposed, moved, and sometimes damaged archaeological remains.
