Embark on a small-group adventure (maximum 18 participants) to La Leona Petrified Forest, one of Patagonia’s most off-the-beaten-path natural wonders. This exclusive day trip from El Calafate takes you deep into a dramatic, eroded landscape where ancient history and raw nature meet.

Located in a remote and little-visited area, La Leona Petrified Forest is home to fossilized trees estimated to be over 70 million years old. As you walk among these massive petrified trunks and discover fossilized remains scattered across the terrain, you’ll gain a fascinating insight into Patagonia’s prehistoric past. Your expert guide will share geological and paleontological explanations that bring this ancient ecosystem to life.

The experience includes a demanding trek across uneven terrain and natural formations shaped by wind and time. This challenging walk rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views, unique rock formations, and exceptional photo opportunities in a landscape unlike any other in the region. Due to the physical nature of the activity, a strong fitness level is required.

A box lunch is included and enjoyed in the open Patagonian wilderness, adding to the sense of exploration and immersion in nature. Transportation from El Calafate is provided in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.

This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants to operate. If the minimum is not reached, guests will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
