The Stone Forest located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, is a remarkable natural wonder and UNESCO World Heritage site. These unique rock pillars, some of which soar over 40 meters high, were formed over millions of years through the process of erosion and weathering. The formations, shaped like animals, plants and even human figures, create a maze-like terrain that has captivated visitors for centuries.

The area holds deep cultural significance for the Sani people, a subgroup of the Yi ethnic group, who believe that the Stone Forest is the embodiment of a legendary petrified forest. The annual Torch Festival, held by the Yi people, celebrates their heritage and connection to the land.
