Unlike many early-start day trips, this Meteora experience begins at 9 AM from Larissa Station in Athens, so you do not need to wake up extremely early or rush through the morning. Start the day at an easier pace, enjoy breakfast at your hotel & avoid the busy early-morning departure rush, when many buses and tours leave. Then travel comfortably toward one of Greece’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Your day to Meteora, step by step
Your journey begins at 9AM from Larissa Station in Athens, where you board a comfortable A/C bus to Meteora.

Midway through the journey, we make a refreshing stop by the sea in Kamena Vourla. Stretch your legs, pick up water, coffee, or snacks & enjoy views of Evia before continuing toward the mountains.

You will arrive in Kalabaka, where your local guide will welcome you & begin the Meteora tour, which lasts about 4 hours. Before the tour, you will have a break at a local Greek restaurant.
If you book the option with Greek lunch included, choose one main dish from 10 options, along with a Greek salad & a bottle of water. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available. The meal is served in a fully A/C restaurant.

During your Meteora tour, you will see all 6 monasteries from panoramic viewpoints: Great Meteoron Monastery, Varlaam Monastery, Monastery of Rousanou, Monastery of St. Nicholas Anapafsas, Holy Trinity Monastery & Monastery of St. Stephen. Depending on the day’s opening hours, you will visit 3 of them inside. Your guide will explain the geological formation of Meteora, the history of the monasteries & the traditions of monastic life.

Enjoy stops at breathtaking panoramic viewpoints to take photos. You will also see the Hermit Caves & learn local stories about the majestic rocks of Meteora.

After the tour, board the coach for the return journey to Athens. Midway through the drive, enjoy one more refreshment stop by the sea in Kamena Vourla, where you can relax & choose dinner, if you wish, before returning to the city.

Arrival in Athens is expected late in the evening, with drop-off at Larissa Station, where your day began, before 11:00 PM.
