Katsuo-ji Temple, located in the mountains of Minoo Quasi-National Park in northern Osaka, is a renowned temple with a history of approximately 1,300 years, revered as the "Temple of Victory and Fortune" since ancient times. Historically, powerful samurai families such as the Genji and Ashikaga clans have visited to pay their respects; even today, it attracts worshippers from all over the world who pray for important moments in life, including health, career, exams, sports, and love.

The "victory" conveyed by Katsuo-ji Temple is not about defeating others, but about defeating oneself and overcoming inner weaknesses. The countless "Victory Daruma" arranged on the offering racks within the temple grounds are symbols of gratitude offered by worshippers after their wishes have been fulfilled, and have become one of the most representative sights of Katsuo-ji Temple.

Nestled in a vast mountain forest of approximately 80,000 tsubo (about 13,300 square meters), the temple is only a 30-minute drive from downtown Osaka, yet offers a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery. Springtime brings cherry blossoms and photinia, summer offers blooming hydrangeas, and autumn allows visitors to stroll among the vibrant red leaves, each season adding a unique dimension to the pilgrimage experience.

  • Children aged 2 and under, and those who present a disability certificate, can enter the mountain for free.
  • The temple is not open on a fixed schedule, and the time for worship varies depending on the date. It is recommended to check the latest information on the official website before visiting.
  • The latest time to enter the mountain is 30 minutes before closing time. Please pay attention to the closing time on the day.
  • Entry to the mountain is free from January 1st to January 5th. No refunds will be given for tickets already purchased.
  • Limited to Katsuo-ji Temple entrance ticket only: Free cancellation is available on or before the expiry date shown on the voucher (Japan time). Please contact customer service if needed.

Parking and Traffic Precautions-

  • On weekends and Japanese national holidays, parking at the temple requires advance reservation and is only available to vehicles with reservations. Waiting on-site will not be permitted.
  • Entry will be restricted when the parking lot is full on weekdays; please pay attention to on-site signs.
