- Itinerary Introduction -

  • The beautiful red and white interweaving of autumn only|Four Seasons Cherry Blossoms

The "Shiki Sakura" in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, is one of the few places in Japan where you can enjoy both cherry blossoms and maple leaves in autumn. From mid-November every year, the pink and white Shiki Sakura and the fiery red maple leaves interweave in the valley, forming a dreamlike scene of red and white, which is a unique visual feast. The local area also holds a Shiki Sakura Festival, selling local food and specialties, adding to the fun of the journey.

[Little Knowledge] The four-season cherry blossoms are a rare species that blooms in spring and autumn. The best viewing period is from mid-November to late November, and the autumn blossoms are the most spectacular. The cherry blossoms are a heavy white or light pink, which contrasts with the red and yellow maple leaves, just like a dream.

The cherry blossoms and red leaves of "Kawami Shikizakura" are densely concentrated on the slope, forming a large "red and white staircase", a beautiful spot not to be missed.
During the "Ohara Four Seasons Cherry Blossom Festival", there are stalls run by local residents, where you can not only enjoy the scenery, but also leisurely enjoy the local flavor and human touch.

  • The most representative autumn leaf viewing spot in the Tokai region|Korankei

Korankei is located in Asuke-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. It is one of the top 100 maple viewing spots in Japan, a representative maple leaf spot in the central region, and a nationally renowned red leaf spot. From early to late November every year, about 4,000 maple trees are dyed with gorgeous red leaves, and the red leaf tunnel that stretches along both sides of the Tomoe River is poetic and moving. It is a classic attraction that cannot be missed in autumn.

Korankei is loved not only for its spectacular maple leaf scenery, but also for the preservation of the traditional wooden bridge "Taizuki Bridge" and the quaint streets and natural streams, which make people feel like they are walking into a landscape painting from the Edo period. In addition, the annual night illumination event makes the maple leaves shine with a dreamy brilliance under the lights, attracting a large number of photography enthusiasts and tourists.

  • Go back to the Edo period on the stone-paved streets of Magome-juku

Magome-juku is one of the 69 post stations on the Nakasendo Trail, located in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture. The quaint stone roads and traditional wooden houses retain the style of the post stations in the Edo period, making people feel like they are traveling through time. In autumn, the mountains and forests are dyed with red maple leaves, which adds to the charm of the ancient streets. You can taste local delicacies such as Gohei cakes, chestnuts and fruits along the street, and experience the most authentic post station style and warm human touch.
