Tamari seat arrangement for the perfect view of the ring
[Opening of the tournament/Morning drum] Originally, this was used as a signal to summon the masters to a meeting for a consultation. Nowadays, it is beaten every day from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. during the tournament to notify the spectators that the tournament has begun and to encourage them to come. It is also known as the "Morning drum."
[Open practice and question corner for sumo wrestlers] Starting with the lower ranked wrestlers, practice will progress over time to the higher ranked sekitori. You can witness the exciting practice with your own eyes.
[Makushita and below bouts: first sparring, chants, drumming] This is the bout for the makushita wrestlers. When a local wrestler appears, the cheers from the arena get even louder.
[Makuuchi and Yokozuna Ring-Entry] The wrestlers put on their decorative mawashi and, splitting into east and west teams, enter the ring to show off their faces.
[Makuuchi bouts and archery ceremony] Familiar sumo wrestlers will appear in live broadcasts. The arena will be filled with excitement as they compete in a powerful bout that cannot be experienced on television.
Purchase Notice
- In the Tamari seats, you will be sitting on cushions while watching the game. You cannot bring your own chairs.
- Please check your seat location on the ticket you receive on the day. We cannot inform you of your seat location in advance.
- Shoes are strictly prohibited inside the gymnasium. If you are concerned about this, please bring slippers or other shoes. (Plastic bags for storing footwear will be provided.)
- Bringing in alcohol is prohibited.
- Please refrain from bringing in any food or drinks other than those sold at the venue.
- We ask that customers who are not feeling well or have cold symptoms such as fever or cough refrain from attending the event.
- If you begin to feel unwell during the event, please inform a staff member or security guard nearby.
