What causes the Naruto Whirlpools?

The Naruto Whirlpools are caused by the massive tidal exchange between the Kii Channel and the Harima Sea. When the tide is high in the Kii Channel, water flows towards the Harima Sea, and vice versa. This powerful ebb and flow, occurring every six hours, creates the impressive whirlpools on either side of the strait.
