Where is Mt. Kirishima located?

Mt. Kirishima is an active composite volcano situated in the southern part of Kyushu Island, Japan. The volcano spans about 30 km from east to west and 25 km from north to south and includes a group of more than 25 small-scale andesitic stratovolcanoes and two calderas.

What is Mt. Kirishima renowned for?

The area of Kirishima was the first to be designated as a national park in 1934 in Japan and is one of the most richly diverse national parks. Today, the much larger Kirishima Kinkowan National Park is home to volcanic mountains, crater lakes, hiking trails and rich biodiversity.
