Join me for a friendly walking tour in the heart of the historic center of Troyes, the city of ten churches, famous for its slate-fronted houses and charming cobbled streets.
The starting point is in front of the Maison du Dauphin, one of the iconic houses of Troyes, recognizable by its leaning structure and medieval half-timbered walls. Easily accessible, it is right next to a free parking lot, for a hassle-free start.
We will begin with a brief presentation of the itinerary, then we will set off to discover the 16 most emblematic places of the "Bouchon de Champagne," the nickname given to Old Troyes because of the unique shape of its town center.
Throughout the route, we will stroll through the cobbled streets, pass by beautiful slate-fronted houses, and stop in front of Gothic churches, contemporary sculptures, hidden courtyards, and other iconic sites of Troyes' heritage. At each stop, I will tell you the history of the place, share unusual anecdotes, local traditions, and above all... my favorite spots.
I offer you a friendly walk, punctuated by a few historical anecdotes, but above all rich in local tips: must-see places, favorite spots of the people of Troyes, secret corners, and specialties not to be missed.
I'll share my favorites with you: Where can you drink a good Champagne from the Aube region? Where to try a real andouillette or a pastry made by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France? Where to have a cocktail in a place steeped in history?
The tour lasts about 75 minutes (between 70 and 80 minutes depending on the pace), and will end in a central square, opposite the Cité du Vitrail, a museum housed in a former episcopal palace. This will be an opportunity to bring this shared moment to a close in style and answer your questions or give you tips for the rest of your stay.
This tour is Troyes as told by a local: a blend of heritage, enjoyment, and authenticity.
A simple, warm, and accessible experience for everyone, without visiting the interior of the monuments, but with a lot of passion and conviviality.
