Become a Glass Artist in Murano: Create your own Fused Glass Plate!
The Experience
Step into the heart of Murano and turn your trip into an indelible memory! In my artisan workshop, I will guide you step by step in the creation of a personalized glass plate using the fascinating technique of glass fusing.
No previous experience is needed: the activity is conducted entirely cold, making the experience safe, relaxing, and incredibly stimulating. You'll have an extraordinary color palette at your disposal and you'll use the typical materials of the Murano tradition: shiny glass granules in every shade, colored tesserae and the famous murrine, the small and precious glass mosaics known all over the world. You will learn to compose your design by playing with shapes and light. Once your work is complete, we will place it in the oven overnight, where the heat will fuse the individual elements into a single, beautiful piece of design.
‍‍‍ Suitable for Families (Children 6 years and older)
This workshop has been specifically designed to be family-friendly. The use of granules, tiles, and murrine allows for fun manual work, similar to a creative mosaic. The absence of open flames or molten glass during the session makes the activity 100% safe even for the little ones (6 years and older), who can create their Murano souvenir in complete safety together with their parents.
What we will do:
Welcome to the Lab: A brief introduction to the history of Murano glass and the secrets of glass fusing.
The Choice of Materials: You will discover the workshop materials. You will choose your glass base and the details to decorate it with, including fine and coarse granules, geometric tiles, and traditional murrine.
Cold Composition: You will assemble your plate by placing the pieces of colored glass side by side and overlapping them, guided by my technical and artistic advice.
Firing: At the end of the workshop, you will leave your creation in my workshop. The plate will be fired in the oven at about 800°C to melt and will cool slowly to become strong and shiny.
⚠️ Important Information for Pickup (Read Carefully!)
Pick-up the next day: The glass needs many hours to melt and cool without breaking. Your finished piece will be ready for pick up starting the day after the workshop.
✈️ Shipping option: If you have to leave the next day and can't come back to Murano, no problem! I can ship your plate directly to your home (shipping cost not included in the workshop price).
