상품 설명

Kreuzberg has always lived at the edge: at the edge of the medieval city, at the edge of industrial expansion, at the edge of the Wall, and today at the edge of capital. On this public history walk, we explore one of Berlin’s most politically and culturally charged neighborhoods through the lens of social history, memory, and urban transformation.
Rather than presenting history as a fixed timeline of events, this experience approaches the city from the perspective of those often left at the margins of official narratives: workers, migrants, minorities, activists, and artists. As we move through streets, bridges, and public spaces, Kreuzberg becomes a living archive revealing how everyday people shaped Berlin’s modern identity.
We trace the district’s transformation from an industrial and working-class area along the river to a divided neighborhood shaped by the Berlin Wall. We explore the impact of migration, the rise of counterculture and squatting movements, and the ongoing pressures of gentrification. Through these layers of history, Kreuzberg becomes a lens to understand Berlin “from below.”
This walk is designed and led by a public historian with academic training in Cultural Studies and Public History. Historical research is combined with accessible storytelling, visual material, and critical reflection. Participants are encouraged not only to listen, but to observe, question, and engage with the urban landscape around them.
By the end of the tour, Kreuzberg is no longer just a neighborhood on the map, but a space where past and present intersect — and where the future remains an open question.
