Rovaniemi: Chasing the Arctic Sky - 3-Day Aurora Expedition｜Finland

Maximize your chances of seeing the Northern Lights on this flexible 3-day Arctic expedition from Rovaniemi. Unlike fixed tours, we follow the weather and aurora forecasts to travel where skies are clearest — in Finnish Lapland, Swedish Lapland, or, if conditions require, Northern Norway.

Day 1 – Into the Arctic Wilderness

Depart Rovaniemi in the morning and journey north into remote Lapland landscapes. Possible destinations include Inari or Swedish fells. Stop for scenic viewpoints, short nature walks, and photography. In the evening, head to a remote location for your first Northern Lights hunt, with guidance on photography and hot drinks by a campfire. Overnight in a cozy wilderness cabin or lodge.

Day 2 – Chasing Clear Skies Across Borders

After breakfast, we check forecasts and adjust the route. Continue exploring northern Finland, cross into Sweden, or head toward Northern Norway (e.g., Tromsø) if skies are clearer. Enjoy Arctic scenery, frozen lakes, and tundra walks. Evening brings a second dedicated aurora hunt in a new location. Overnight in lodge or cabin.

Day 3 – Scenic Return & Final Aurora Opportunity

Relaxed morning in the wilderness before a scenic drive back to Rovaniemi. Stop at viewpoints, rivers, or open tundra. If conditions allow, we will hunt for the Northern Lights along the return journey before arriving in Rovaniemi in the evening.
