The adventure begins in the late morning with a visit to the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument, located 24 km from Puerto Natales. In this site rich in natural history, we will explore the impressive cave where remains of a prehistoric mammal, the Milodón, were found, along with other traces that reveal the ancient and fascinating paleontological heritage of Patagonia. Our guide will share stories that connect us with the region’s first inhabitants and its local legends.
We continue toward Torres del Paine National Park, entering through the Río Serrano Gate. This southern access introduces us to a landscape of lush forests, rushing rivers, and the first distant views of the Paine Massif.
Our journey begins in the Grey Lake sector, one of the park’s most spectacular areas. Here, we will have time for lunch (not included) and, weather permitting, a walk down to the beach to observe the floating icebergs calved from the Grey Glacier, part of the vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field. The sight of blue-tinted ice blocks set against a mountainous backdrop is truly unforgettable.
The route continues to the Pehoé Overlook, famous for its turquoise waters and the reflection of the Cuernos del Paine. Nearby lies Salto Grande, a powerful waterfall connecting Nordenskjöld Lake and Pehoé Lake, where the roar of the water reminds us of nature’s raw force.
Next, we visit the Nordenskjöld Lake Viewpoint, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape that showcases the park’s glacial geography and the mountains that form its iconic silhouette.
We then exit through the Laguna Amarga Gate, entering the eastern sector of the park. Our next stop is the Laguna Amarga Viewpoint, home to flamingos and one of the best spots to admire the granite Towers up close — the park’s namesake — which often glow in golden and reddish hues at sunset.
The tour concludes at the Lago Sarmiento Viewpoint, where visitors can admire unique geological formations along the shoreline and sweeping views of the Paine Massif. This is also an excellent location for spotting local wildlife such as guanacos, foxes, and birds of prey.
Finally, we begin our return journey toward Villa Cerro Castillo and then Puerto Natales, arriving around 7:00 p.m. after an unforgettable day exploring the Eighth Wonder of the World.
