Looking for more photo gems around Stavanger?
We pick you up from your accommodation or another convenient location in the Stavanger or Sandnes area before beginning your private scenic road trip.
Your first stop is Vålandstårnet, a distinctive red-brick tower overlooking Stavanger. From here, enjoy wide views across the city’s rooftops, lakes, and surrounding landscape—the perfect introduction before heading toward the coast.
Continue to Sverd i Fjell, one of Stavanger’s most famous landmarks. The three enormous bronze swords stand proudly at Hafrsfjord, commemorating the Battle of Hafrsfjord, where Norway was united into one kingdom.
From there, pass the peaceful waters of Stokkavatnet and Mosvatnet on the way to Ullandhaug Tower. This elevated viewpoint offers sweeping panoramic views over Stavanger, the fjord, and the coastline stretching into the distance.
The journey then continues toward Sola Beach, a long stretch of soft white sand facing the open North Sea. Take time to enjoy the fresh sea air, walk along the shore, and capture memorable photographs. Nearby, visit the atmospheric ruins of a medieval church located only a short distance from the beach.
On the return journey, stop in Sandnes near Hanatrappene, a well-known staircase leading toward one of the area’s best viewpoints over Gandsfjord. You may climb as far as you feel comfortable or simply enjoy the surroundings from below.
Each stop is relaxed, flexible, and ideal for photographs. There are no long hikes, crowded museum visits, or rushed schedules—just beautiful scenery, local stories, and Norway’s coastline unfolding outside your window.
Your English-speaking local guide will adapt the route, pace, and timing according to the weather and your group’s interests. This is not a fixed sightseeing script, but a private road trip designed around you—the way a local friend would show you the Stavanger region.
