From Amsterdam: Texel Island Day Trip with Ferry & Guide｜Netherlands

Leave the busy streets of Amsterdam behind and discover Texel, the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands, on a full-day trip combining coastal landscapes, traditional villages, and some of the most beautiful nature in the northern Netherlands.

Travel north from Amsterdam through the Dutch countryside to Den Helder, where you board the ferry for the short crossing across the Wadden Sea to Texel. Step onto the island and enjoy a landscape that feels very different from mainland Holland, with wide-open fields, dunes, beaches, sheep pastures, and picturesque villages. Opt for shrimp-catching boat experience on the Wadden Sea or Seal Watching experience.

Continue to De Slufter, one of Texel's most distinctive natural areas. Unlike most Dutch coastal landscapes, the sea is able to flow naturally into this area through openings in the dunes, creating a unique landscape of creeks, salt marshes, dunes, and coastal vegetation. Take time for a short walk and enjoy panoramic views across the reserve.

Travel onward toward the northern tip of Texel to see the island's unmistakable red lighthouse. Located close to the beach, it offers one of the most recognizable views on the island, with the North Sea and Wadden Sea meeting around Texel's northern coast.

During the day, discover some of Texel's small villages and enjoy free time to have lunch, browse local shops, or simply experience the relaxed atmosphere of island life.

Depending on the day's conditions and timing, there will also be opportunities for scenic stops along the coast and in the island's characteristic countryside.

In the afternoon, return to the ferry terminal for the crossing back to Den Helder. Relax during the journey back to Amsterdam after experiencing one of the Netherlands' most distinctive island landscapes.
