From Stockholm: 3 day's tours with over 55 Viking runstones｜Sweden

Do you know Sweden have close to 2500 Viking runestones ranging from the 900s to the 1100s AD, all carved in different Viking art styles? The runestones are the only written records the Vikings left of themselves and their lives.
They still stand tall in the Swedish lanscape, but finding them in the deep forests and remote farm fields can be hard for most.

We will be learning the history of different Viking kin groups and their relatives using the runstone carving to trace 3 to 4 generations of Viking families and their descendants. We will also be using the runestones to learn about Viking history in general, about the raids they undertook, their extensive trading networks and their ordinary life here in Scandinavia. Our authorized Viking tour experts will cover a careful selection of inscriptions telling stories of Viking life and culture.

The important thing to remember is that the life and habits of the Norsemen or "Vikings" were almost always described from an outside perspective, which often came from their enemies.
On this 3 day tour we dig deep down into the original written sources carved into stone which have been matched against the written sources of Snorri's Edda and other mythological stories. We will also visit the a wide range of Viking grave mounds, small and big, for the wealthy and powerful as well as for the ordinary peoples of the time.

We also visit several grave fields and grave mounds, the stone remains of long house foundations and important places for the religious activties and rituals, like Old Uppsala.
That as many runestons still stand where they placed them 1000 years ago is remarkable. Their records of exiting place names gives us insight into a world once full of religious ceremony, festive halls of the rich and the powerful, of their land disputes, their stuggles and grief as well as their strong sense of honor.
