Explore France's gastronomic capital at your own pace, with your own private driver and vehicle for half a day or a full day. Our recommended route covers the essential Lyon: start in Vieux Lyon, one of Europe's largest Renaissance quarters, and wander its traboules and cobbled lanes. Ride up to Fourvière — by car or the historic funicular — for the basilica and the panoramic view over the city's red rooftops and two rivers. Continue to Confluence, where the Rhône meets the Saône beside striking modern architecture, then to Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, the legendary indoor food market, for cheese, charcuterie and pralines. Stroll from Place Bellecour to Place des Terreaux through the Presqu'île, and finish the way Lyon intends: at a typical bouchon for authentic local cuisine.
This is the itinerary we recommend — but the day is entirely yours. Prefer the silk-weavers' slopes of Croix-Rousse, a museum morning, or a river cruise? Just tell your driver: the route adapts to you. Your driver is a knowledgeable local, not a licensed tour guide — a certified guide can be added as an option for monument visits.
