Discover the heart of the Cotswolds on a full-day tour through some of England’s most beautiful and iconic villages. This journey combines honey-coloured stone, thatched cottages, winding lanes, old inns, churchyards steeped in history and peaceful countryside views, with plenty of time to relax and enjoy lunch in the centre of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Your day includes Cirencester, often called the capital of the Cotswolds, where the magnificent Church of St John the Baptist showcases one of the largest porches in England. Nearby Bibury delights visitors with the world-famous Arlington Row, a picture-perfect line of former weavers’ cottages that has become one of the most photographed scenes in England.
Continue to Bourton-on-the-Water, the “Venice of the Cotswolds,” where attractive bridges, pretty riverside walks and charming attractions make it a favourite stop. From there, explore the quieter beauty of Lower Slaughter and its lovely old watermill before passing through Upper Slaughter and Lower Swell to reach Stow-on-the-Wold. Here you can enjoy a memorable lunch stop, visit the historic churchyard, and perhaps raise a glass in the reputed oldest pub in England.
In the afternoon, travel on to Burford, a beautiful old market town with a fascinating history, a medieval tollhouse, and a churchyard marked by the Civil War. The final stop is Minster Lovell, where the ruins of a grand fifteenth-century manor house and its haunting legend provide a dramatic and memorable finale before returning to London.
This is a tour full of charm, history and quintessential English scenery — the Cotswolds at their very best.
