This private day tour follows sea roads and wind-cut cliffs to Orkney’s best puffin spotting locations. Local guide Ciaran will be on hand to give you the best chance of spotting these characterful visitors, all whilst telling stories and myths about this most unique of places.
At Yesnaby, waves boom below the sea-stacks while wildflowers cling to the rock. Marwick Head offers a clifftop path alive with kittiwakes and fulmars — and, if luck’s with us, the bright faces of puffins peering from their burrows. When the tide allows, we cross to the tidal island of Birsay, a place of Viking ruins, salt air and sweeping views towards the Atlantic.
The itinerary for this tour is guided by where the puffins have landed, and also can be extremely flexible to take in any other sites you would like.
