Leave Edinburgh behind and travel into the heart of Scotland, where centuries of royal history meet some of the country's most spectacular landscapes.
The journey begins with a visit to Glamis Castle, one of Scotland’s most magnificent historic residences. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and centuries of legend, the castle is closely associated with Scottish royalty and remains one of the finest examples of aristocratic architecture in the country. Its rich history, elegant interiors, and enduring connections to the British Royal Family make it a captivating introduction to the day.
Continuing north, the route enters the Cairngorms National Park, the largest national park in the United Kingdom. Here, vast mountain ranges, ancient forests, heather-covered moorlands, and pristine rivers create some of the most remarkable scenery in the Scottish Highlands. The landscapes of the Cairngorms have shaped Highland culture for generations and remain among the most treasured natural environments in Scotland.
The tour proceeds to Braemar, a picturesque Highland village nestled among the mountains of Royal Deeside. Known for its strong royal associations and traditional Highland character, Braemar offers a glimpse into a region where Scottish heritage remains deeply rooted in everyday life.
A highlight of the journey is Balmoral Castle, the private Scottish residence of the British Royal Family since the reign of Queen Victoria. Set amidst the stunning scenery of Royal Deeside, Balmoral occupies a unique place in modern royal history and continues to serve as an important royal retreat. The surrounding estate and landscapes reveal why generations of monarchs have been drawn to this corner of Scotland.
The day also includes time in Ballater, an elegant Victorian village renowned for its royal connections and welcoming Highland atmosphere. Its attractive streets, traditional architecture, and location within the Cairngorms make it one of the most charming destinations in northeastern Scotland.
Throughout the journey, travellers experience a region where royal traditions, Highland culture, and outstanding natural beauty come together to create one of Scotland’s most distinctive landscapes.
Please note that visits to Balmoral Castle are subject to the castle’s seasonal opening schedule and cannot be guaranteed outside periods when the castle is open to visitors.
