On this city tour, we encounter one of Hamburg's most exciting eras: The famous office buildings of the Hanseatic city, such as Laeisz-Hof, Africa House, Sprinkenhof, Meßberghof, and the expressionist Chilehaus, bear witness to the economic growth and global standing of the Elbe metropolis. The unique buildings tell stories of clerks, money counting tables, proletarian excavators, and brickworkers. They gave the city a radically new look in the 1920s: the narrow streets of the Gängeviertel disappeared and were replaced by large office buildings that embodied Hamburg's outstanding importance as a trading metropolis and port city.
On this tour, we visit some of the most impressive buildings and staircases. The Kontorhaus District is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
