상품 설명

Two monuments stand across the same valley on the southern edge of Pretoria, built decades apart to tell different sides of the same national story. This tour visits both.

The day begins on Salvokop hill at Freedom Park, opened in 2004 as a tribute to everyone who shaped South Africa's path to democracy. Walk the Wall of Names, a growing record of more than 75,000 people who died in the country's wars and struggles for freedom, and step into the //hapo Museum, where interactive exhibits trace the nation's history from pre-colonial times through liberation. Across the valley rises the Voortrekker Monument. In 2011 the South African government formally named the route between the two sites Reconciliation Road, marking the recognition that neither monument tells the whole story on its own.

At the Voortrekker Monument, climb to the viewing platform for a wide view over Pretoria and study the marble frieze inside the Hall of Heroes, which traces the Great Trek and its place in Afrikaner history. From there, head into central Pretoria for a walking stop at Church Square, framed by the Ou Raadsaal and the Palace of Justice, before visiting the Kruger House Museum, the modest residence of former President Paul Kruger. Round off the morning at the Union Buildings, the seat of South Africa's government since 1913, where terraced gardens designed by Sir Herbert Baker open onto sweeping views of the city.

After a lunch stop at your own expense, continue towards the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve in the Cradle of Humankind region.

Board a guided safari vehicle and explore the reserve's bushveld landscape in search of African wildlife. The reserve is home to more than 30 animal species and offers opportunities to see several members of the Big Five, including lion, rhino, buffalo, and leopard, as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, antelope and numerous bird species.

Your safari guide provides live commentary about animal behaviour, habitats and conservation while you travel through the reserve. Wildlife sightings are naturally unpredictable, so each drive offers a different experience.

After the game drive, relax on the return journey to Johannesburg or Pretoria.

This experience brings together two very different sides of South Africa: the historical character of its capital city and the wildlife of its Highveld bushveld.
