상품 설명
Begin your trek early from the Nyakalengija or Mihunga Park Gate at an elevation of about 1,615–1,700 meters after registration and a briefing by park staff. Hike through lush montane forest along ridges while following the Mubuku River valley.
Keep an eye out for wildlife, especially monkeys, chameleons, and endemic birds. End the day at Omuka Kizza Rest Camp at approximately 2,977 meters, where wilderness camping is set up. From here, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding foothills and Kasese town below, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in tents.
On the second day, ascend through dense bamboo forest and giant heather draped in moss. The trail often follows elephant tracks, and there may be opportunities to observe natural hot springs. Cross a narrow ridge into heather and afro-alpine zones characterized by giant lobelias and groundsels.
Reach Lake Mahoma, the deepest lake in the Rwenzori Mountains at about 12 feet deep, fed by glacial melt from Mount Baker. On clear days, take in impressive views of the Portal Peaks, Mount Baker, and Mount Stanley. Camp is set up near the lake for dinner and an overnight stay.
On the third day, begin with a relaxed walk around the pristine Lake Mahoma for photography and quiet reflection. Continue your descent through bamboo zones, connecting with the Central Circuit trail. Pass the Nyabitaba area and Mpanga Ridge, which is well known for sightings of chameleons.
Continue through the forest back to the Mihunga or Nyakalengija Park Gate. At the end of the hike, receive a certificate before transferring back to your lodge in Kasese or Fort Portal.
