Discover some of Romania’s most intriguing sites on a full-day small-group tour departing from Bucharest. Travel in comfort in a modern, air-conditioned minibus or bus with a professional English-speaking guide, ensuring a relaxed and more personal experience.
Tour Details Duration: approx. 8–9 hours Departure point: Central Bucharest (sidewalk next to Grand Hotel Bucharest) Transport: Air-conditioned minibus or bus Language: English
Your journey begins with a convenient meeting in central Bucharest before heading north through the Romanian countryside.
The first stop is Snagov Monastery, beautifully located on a small island in the middle of Snagov Lake. According to local tradition, this peaceful monastery is believed to be the burial place of Vlad III, also known as Vlad the Impaler – the historical figure who inspired the famous Dracula legend.
Cross the footbridge to the monastery and step inside the church to see the tomb traditionally associated with Vlad. Your guide will share the fascinating story of the real Vlad the Impaler, separating myth from historical facts while explaining his role in the history of medieval Wallachia.
The tour continues to one of Romania’s most impressive underground attractions: Slănic Prahova Salt Mine, among the largest salt mines in Europe.
After descending deep underground, you will enter enormous chambers carved entirely from salt. The mine’s vast galleries, towering walls and unique formations create a spectacular subterranean landscape unlike anything above ground. As you explore the galleries, you will learn about the history of salt extraction in the region and discover how the mine has become both a major tourist attraction and a place known for its clean, mineral-rich air and constant temperature.
Why join this tour? This carefully designed day trip offers a perfect mix of history, legend, and natural wonders. From the mysterious story of Vlad the Impaler at Snagov Monastery to the extraordinary underground world of the Slănic Salt Mine, you will experience two of Romania’s most fascinating locations in a single day.
With comfortable transport, and an expert guide, this tour provides a relaxed and insightful escape from the busy streets of Bucharest.
Join us for a memorable day discovering Romania’s legends, history, and hidden underground beauty.
