Depart from Bucharest and head to Curtea de Argeș, once the capital of Wallachia. Visit the spectacular Curtea de Argeș Monastery, a masterpiece of Romanian medieval architecture. Built in the 16th century by Prince Neagoe Basarab, the monastery is famous for its intricate stonework and the poignant legend of Master Manole, whose sacrifice is said to have ensured the church’s eternal beauty. The monastery also serves as the resting place of Romanian kings and queens.

The journey continues into the mountains along the legendary Transfăgărășan Road, often ranked among the most spectacular drives in the world. Winding through the Făgăraș Mountains, this high-altitude road offers breathtaking panoramas, alpine scenery, glacial lakes, and dramatic hairpin turns. Weather permitting, make scenic stops for photos and short walks to fully appreciate the raw beauty of the Carpathians.

As you return toward Bucharest, carry with you stories of ancient legends, royal history, and some of the most impressive natural landscapes Romania has to offer—an experience that perfectly blends culture, mystery, and adventure.
