This is a 8-day private round trip. Here is the day-by-day itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Muscat
Arrival in Muscat. Transfer from the airport to Muscat hotel.
Day 2: Muscat City Tour
Get picked up at 9:00 AM for a sightseeing tour around Muscat. See the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque with its beautiful interior, then head to the Royal Opera House. After that, walk through the traditional Muttrah Souq market and check out the historic Muttrah Fort before finishing at Al Alam Palace, the official residence of the Sultan.
Day 3: Nizwa, Oman Across the Ages Museum, and Jebel Akhdar
Start early in the morning and drive out to Nizwa, Oman's ancient capital. Once there, tour Nizwa Fort and wander the traditional souq. Later, visit the Oman Across the Ages Museum to get some history. Then, head up to the Green Mountain (Jebel Akhdar), where the views of the Hajar Mountains are really something. See terraced orchards tucked between remote villages.
Day 4: Wahiba Sands
In the morning, travel through Birkat Al Mouz village, known for its date plantations and traditional mud-brick houses. Learn about the ancient Falaj irrigation system, which is recognized by UNESCO. In the afternoon, continue your journey into the Wahiba Sands desert, stopping along the way for photos of the impressive sand dunes.
Arrive at a desert hotel, where you check in and have time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Later in the day, head out to the dunes to experience the sunset over the desert landscape. In the evening, return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in the desert.
Day 5: Wadi Bani Khalid, Sur, and Ras Al Jinz
After breakfast at 8:00 AM, drive to Wadi Bani Khalid for a swim in the deep pools. Have lunch in the wadi itself. Then, continue to Sur to see the Arabian Dhow Factory and the old forts there. By evening, arrive at Ras al Jinz, and after checking in, a guide takes you on a nighttime beach walk where in the season you might see green sea turtles nesting or even baby turtles making their way to the water.
Day 6: Wadi Shab, Bimmah Sinkhole, and Transfer to Muscat
At 8:00 AM, start driving along the East Coast with turquoise sea views the whole way. First stop is Wadi Shab, where you'll take a small ferry across and hike to fresh pools and a cavern with a waterfall inside. Then, head to Fins Beach, known for its pink pebbles, and check out the Bimmah sinkhole. By evening, return to Muscat.
Day 7: Dolphin Watching and Snorkeling Group Tour
Take a 3-hour boat group trip out into the waters around Muscat to watch dolphins. These marine mammals swim and jump while feeding, so there's plenty to see. After dolphin watching, do some snorkeling in the open sea to see the colorful coral reefs and the different marine life that lives in the Sea of Oman.
Day 8: Departure
Check out until 11:00 PM and transfer to the airport. Take all your memories and adventures from this journey through Oman with you.
