상품 설명
Nestled above the village of Tamarin on Mauritius' west coast, La Tourelle de Tamarin is one of the island's most rewarding yet lesser-known peaks. Rising to 553 meters above sea level, it offers a peaceful alternative to Mauritius' more frequented summits, combining spectacular scenery with a rich natural environment.
Away from the island's busiest hiking trails, La Tourelle offers an authentic outdoor experience for travelers looking to discover a quieter side of Mauritius. Led by experienced local guides, this small-group hike allows you to explore the mountain safely while learning about its unique landscapes, native flora, and the surrounding region.
The La Tourelle hike is a rewarding 3.5 to 4-hour round trip, depending on the group's pace. The trail begins with a steady ascent through open vegetation before becoming steeper as you approach the summit. While the route is not technical, a few sections require the use of your hands for balance and careful footing.
As you climb, the landscape gradually opens up, revealing panoramic views over Tamarin Bay, Le Morne Brabant, the Black River mountain range, the lagoons of the west coast, and, on clear days, much of Mauritius' southwestern shoreline. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to the island's local wildlife and the ecological importance of this protected mountain ecosystem.
La Tourelle is also home to several endemic plant species and native birds that thrive in its dry forest ecosystem. Take the time to discover this remarkable biodiversity as you make your way to the summit.
For guests joining the afternoon departure, the hike is timed to enjoy the sunset from the summit. The descent takes place after sunset, so participants should be comfortable hiking in the dark and bring a torch or headlamp.
