This full-day tour offers a unique combination of nature, geology, and culture just outside Quito. The experience begins at Maraksacha, a peaceful natural sanctuary dedicated to hummingbird conservation. Here, you will observe a wide variety of colorful hummingbirds flying freely in their natural habitat, enjoy close encounters with these fascinating birds, and take excellent nature photographs in a tranquil setting.
The journey then continues to the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, one of the few inhabited volcanic craters in the world. From panoramic viewpoints, you will admire breathtaking landscapes shaped by ancient volcanic activity, fertile farmland, and surrounding Andean mountains, while learning about the area’s geology, biodiversity, and local communities.
The tour ends at the iconic Middle of the World, where you will visit the equatorial monument and learn about the history, science, and legends of latitude 0°. You will have time to explore the area and capture memorable photos standing in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time, making this a perfect conclusion to an enriching Ecuadorian experience.
