Experience the highlights of the Ecuadorian Andes on this 4-day journey from Quito to Cuenca, traveling south through some of the country’s most spectacular and diverse landscapes. Along the way, discover the Avenue of the Volcanoes through páramo, turquoise crater lakes, traditional Andean communities, deep river valleys, waterfalls, high-altitude páramo, and historic mountain scenery.

Walk beneath Cotopaxi, look into the extraordinary turquoise waters of Quilotoa, meet the artists behind Tigua’s distinctive paintings, and descend into the warmer Pastaza Valley at Baños and explore the Route of the Waterfalls. From there, the journey climbs again toward Chimborazo, where wild vicuñas graze beneath Ecuador’s highest mountain, before continuing south through historic railway country and the dramatic Devil’s Nose landscape.

More than a transfer between Quito and Cuenca, this trip reveals how quickly Ecuador changes as you travel overland—sometimes from windswept volcanic plains to green subtropical valleys in only a few hours.
