Begin your adventure with a scenic drive through the lush landscapes of the northern Andes. Stop in Guayllabamba, where we will taste the traditional "chirimoya", a fruit that is characteristic of this region.
Continue to Miralago, where you’ll have a short break to take in the stunning views of San Pablo Lake. As you drive past the lake, admire its serene beauty against the backdrop of the Andes. Here, you will also have the opportunity to try the famous bizcochos, traditionally served with queso de hoja (fresh local cheese) or manjar. These traditional treats offer a typical regional gastronomic experience and a unique flavor found only in Ecuador.
Next, head to the vibrant Plaza de los Ponchos in Otavalo, one of the largest indigenous markets in South America. Spend one hour exploring the colorful stalls, where you can find handmade textiles, jewelry, and other crafts. Learn about the significance of the traditional Otavaleño attire from your guide.
Also we will visit a cultural center where you can see local artisans at work. Watch as they create musical instruments and then we will visit José Cotacachi house to see intricate textiles using traditional methods. Gain insight into the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous communities.
Finally, visit the sacred Peguche Waterfall, a breathtaking natural sanctuary surrounded by lush Andean forest and deeply connected to the ancestral traditions of the local Kichwa communities. This iconic cultural site is where nature and Andean spirituality come together, offering visitors the opportunity to experience one of Ecuador's most meaningful and revered landmarks while enjoying a peaceful walk through its beautiful natural surroundings.
