The tour begins at the meeting point in the village, where the guide greets the group and provides a brief introduction to the route and the region's biodiversity. From there, the canoe journey begins through the canals of Tortuguero National Park, moving slowly as the rainforest landscape unfolds around you.
After a short trip, the route heads towards one of the most special corners of the canal system: Caño Mora.
Unlike other tours, we chose the special Caño Mora canal because motorboats are prohibited, thus avoiding scaring away the animals. This characteristic makes it a quiet, secluded space, offering a much more intimate connection with nature, where you can truly immerse yourself in the flora and fauna and capture all their beauty in photographs.
Our tour is specifically focused on exploring this canal, deliberately straying from the more crowded routes to offer a more authentic and tranquil experience. Because boats with noisy, gasoline-powered motors are not allowed in this area, the environment remains virtually untouched, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the natural sounds of the rainforest.
As the canoe moves gently along, propelled by the guide's paddle, visitors enter a natural corridor surrounded by dense vegetation. Here, it's common to see monkeys moving among the trees, tropical birds resting on the branches, and reptiles along the canal banks.
The combination of silence, pristine nature, and minimal boat traffic makes Caño Mora one of the most special places for wildlife observation within the park.
After exploring this unique canal, the tour returns peacefully along the waterways to the starting point in Tortuguero.
