Discover the spectacular mountain landscape of Martial Glacier on a guided trekking experience from Ushuaia with Arpón Trekking, a local trekking company specialized in small-group mountain experiences and responsible tourism in Tierra del Fuego.
Our approach combines outdoor adventure, personalized guiding and a commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of tourism. Throughout our experiences, we encourage visitors to connect with the natural environment while traveling responsibly and respecting the landscapes we explore.
Your adventure begins with pickup in Ushuaia and a short transfer to Cerro Martial, located just a few kilometers from the city.
Once at the base of Cerro Martial, the first section of the ascent is made by chairlift, allowing you to gain elevation while enjoying panoramic views of Ushuaia, the Beagle Channel and the surrounding mountains.
After reaching the upper chairlift area, the trekking begins.
Follow mountain trails through the native Patagonian forest and gradually enter a higher-altitude landscape where the vegetation becomes lower and the terrain more open. As you gain elevation, your guide will introduce you to the natural environment, geology and glacial landscape of Tierra del Fuego, while sharing information about the importance of protecting these fragile mountain ecosystems.
The route continues towards the upper Martial Glacier area, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the glacier, surrounding mountains, valleys, Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel.
After reaching the planned viewpoint, take a break to enjoy a homemade outdoor lunch and a hot drink, surrounded by the Fuegian mountains.
At Arpón Trekking, sustainability is part of the way we operate. We work to reduce single-use plastics by using reusable materials and containers, and we encourage our passengers to adopt responsible practices during their time in nature. Our guides also help raise awareness about the local environment and how to minimize our collective footprint while trekking.
The descent follows the mountain trail back towards the chairlift area and then to the base of Cerro Martial, before returning to Ushuaia.
The experience lasts approximately 5 hours and is operated in small groups, allowing the guide to provide a more personalized experience and adapt the pace to the group and mountain conditions.
This is an active mountain trekking experience. Weather and trail conditions in Tierra del Fuego can change rapidly, and the exact route may be modified when necessary for safety.
Please note: the entrance/visitor fees for Cerro Martial and the chairlift ticket are not included in the tour price and must be paid separately by the participant.
