Get ready for an unforgettable and unique adventure in the heart of Tierra del Fuego. The experience begins by leaving Ushuaia along the legendary National Route 3, flanked by the imposing silhouettes of Mount Olivia and Cinco Hermanos, which guide us towards one of the most magical corners of the south: Emerald Lagoon.
Once in Tierra Mayor Valley, we will set out on a 5-kilometer (3-mile) trek (10 kilometers/6 miles round trip), but this is no ordinary hike. Equipped with snow spikes, headlamps, and hiking poles, and guided by experts who know the area, we will venture into the Sub-Antarctic forest under the stillness and mystery of the night.
The darkness transforms the landscape: the sounds of the forest become more intense, the light of the stars guides our way, and each step becomes a profound connection with the nature of Tierra del Fuego. Throughout the hike, we will traverse glacial valleys, ancient riverbeds shaped by millennia of erosion, while our guides will share insights that reveal the geological history of this environment.
Upon arriving at the mountain shelter, next to Esmeralda Lagoon, an intimate and cozy experience awaits us: a hot dinner by the warmth of the salamander stove, surrounded by the silence of the mountains. This refuge offers not only physical shelter, but also a moment of contemplation and connection with oneself and the surrounding environment.
This activity is subject to local weather conditions, but is always carried out under the supervision and with the safety of our guides. This is a sensory, introspective, and deeply emotional experience, ideal for those seeking to explore Patagonia in a unique way: hiking at night through one of its most iconic landscapes.
